Sin City Time Line and Analysis

In film Sin City, the opening sequence starts with a narrative, showing a man holding a women's dead in his lap, in the street, it then pans into and extreme long shot of the city– this show the setting, also the buildings are used to spell the words sin city.The setting of a city, can be manipulated to project unsafety, as we see the city as a very large place. 

The effect of red liquid or blood on to the titles, this portrays that the film will be in the action genre or horror genre. The typography  is  bold, large and  comic like and stands out well on the black and white background, this relates to the genres thriller/noir . The red may connote blood,violence or death. 

The title sequence also has non diegetic music, the music used helps the audience recognise  type of movie. Overall the dark editing, which is typically used in a thriller genre gives a sense of fear or helplessness.
